We have often seen career growth as a challenge for many people, as most of us start something to grab a job and then keep on changing, very few are able to get the right things done and reach on top of their careers while many struggles to find the right job, so let’s understand some fundamentals.
Career is our bread and butter, Choosing the right career is the first important step based on your interest or passion.
It’s said that- Where there is a will, there is a way.
However, we often start our career to do something as needed to start or for survival, latter we often end up, where there is a way, it becomes our will, so many people start something, not in their area of interest or so-called passion.
After some time, a few of those who started with medium interest remain only in survival mode and are able to make living while others who had almost no interest, frustrations do start, they don’t enjoy their career journey and often remain backbenchers in their career which means, they are not rewarded and do not get growth, eventually it impacts everything, by the time they release, it’s too late, which means they have spent most of the time in frustrations with a feeling of no fulfilments.
The important other thing is that when you join an organization, you should love your job, and that is the first thing to give you growth and prosperity, ask yourself a question – Is this truly what I love, If you love, then great, however, if you are not passionate about it, let’s say you are a technical person and land up in sales, or something similar, when you are very clear that this is not what you are passionate about, then start exploring something which makes you happy, basically the one thing that you can keep on doing even if you are not paid, which means you are so passionate that you forget the time, that you spend on it, this one thing will give you excellent growth, however, Don’t search a job which pays more salary, Find a job what you really love you to do, then you will always find yourself happy, content and always love what you are doing.
Once you do what you love, you will always get rewarded, the first reward is that you will never get bored, exhausted, or tired and you will get excellent growth, you will for sure reach the top of growth.
The other growth fundamental is to place yourself as an iconic person in your company, by creating more value, which means, showing your presence, being visible, whatever comes to you, add something which is unique and valuable to your company.
However if still, you are not able to find yourself in the right boat and often think, is this right for me, then you should do a self-analysis about what you love most of the time, write down your skills in all areas like technical, commercial, marketing, sales, reading, writing, social media, digital marketing, analysis, problem-solving, managing typical tasks, co-originating, fieldwork, etc. and rate them on scale 1 to 10, and also the skills that you love the most, if you love a skill in which you have rated yourself low then you need to develop that skill, also analyse is that skill in demand as you will be paid for those skills which are in demand, and finally is this a replaceable skill or very specific skill, repeat this analysis two or three times after few days and you will be able to connect the dots, you would be able to analyse, what you are doing and what you need to do, then analyse, can your existing job become more interesting by adding your creativities based on your skills and area of interest, within the boundary of the organization or have you identified that it’s time to change your boat, it’s always good to analyse before taking next step.
